Snorkeling/Swimming
Puaikura Reef Lodges is located opposite an excellent beach for swimming and snorkeling. We provide free snorkeling gear to guest and encourage you to visit one of our many Ra’ui areas (marine reserves). We are located approx 1km from one of the best marine reserves at Aroa Beach opposite the Dive Centre.
Lagoon Cruises
Captain Tama’s Lagoon Cruizes is a must when visiting Rarotonga. Their glass bottom boat cruise departs daily at 11am Monday – Saturday and includes a bbq lunch. Pick ups are available free of charge from Puaikura Reef Lodges at 10.15am and bookings are essential.
4WD Safari’s
Discover our back roads and mountain areas by joining one of the 4WD safaris. Great fun and entertainment while learning about Rarotonga culture and history. We recommend both Raro Safaris and Tangaroa’s Tours with both including lunch and daily pick up from the Lodges.
Island Nights
An Island night is a must see while visiting the Cook Islands. Cook Island Dancing and drumming is spectacular and is an extremely important part of the culture. Both the Edgewater and the Staircase Island nights are hugely popular and bookings are essential upon arrival to avoid missing out.
Art/Cultural Tours
A highly recommended tour is A-riki Art and Cultural Tour. This tour is operated by internationally renowned carver and artist Te Aturangi Nepia-Clamp. You will learn about the history of voyaging and traditional canoe building, visit traditional and contemporary art sites. We also recommend a visit to the Cook Islands Cultural Village. Presentations include learning about tradition maori medicine, fishing, weaving, coconut husking, carving, cooking, costume making and learning to dance. Both of these tours and many more can be arranged through the office on arrival.
Deep Sea Diving
We are located 1km down from the Dive Centre a Padi 5 star Dive Centre. Dive packages can be arranged for all levels including beginners and more advanced diving. We have some great diving with over 30 sites including wrecks, walls, drop offs, canyons and more. To pre book and find out more, visit

Big Game Fishing
Catch a Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Tuna, Sailfish,Barracuda, or Marlin depending on the season. Join any one of the popular fishing charters or book a private charter for your group. If you would like to pre book a fishing trip or charter email us directly to do this in advance for you and be sure not to miss out!
Scenic walks/Conservation
Rarotonga has several mountain tracks with the most popular being the famous “Across the Island Walk”. We recommend you go with a guide and this can be arranged through the office with Pa’s Mountain Walks. Other natural areas of interest are the Takitumu Conservation area, Highland Paradise and Maire Nui Gardens all of which visits can be arranged through the office.
Kayaking/Mountain biking
Both Kayaks and mountain bikes can be hired right next door from Adventure Hire Ltd. Equipment is all modern and very reasonably priced. Single Malibu kayaks start from $7 per hour or a double Malibu for $12 per hour. Mountain bikes are $13 for a day.
